A Vintage Night on the Dirt Track at I-70 Speedway

Odessa, MO  (August 4, 2007) – As the sun went down, engines revved up on the dirt track at I-70 Speedway.  Dirt track action featured the Show Me Vintage Racing Association.  The Show Me group compete in cars that come from “back in the day”, keeping cars from local racing history on the track and giving race fans a look at what racing was like when their dad’s and grandfather’s raced.  Tonight’s winner, Al Broers, praised the I-70 Staff, “We just love to race at I-70, the people here are great and for a hot August night, Brad McDonald prepared a great track for us to race on”.  “It is great to see all the fans come from the asphalt track to watch the dirt track racing”, concluded Broers.

Al Broers in his # 3b vintage car crossed the finish line second but was awarded the win by SMVR officials due to technical issues on the #84 who took the checkered flag first.  Following Broers was the #28 of Mickie Cook, the #11 of

I-70 alumni Kenny Price, 14 Ron Lutes, the 11M of Mark Price, #7 Mickey Fleehart and the 77 of Dale Reese.  The car #84 of Tony Maucelli Jr. actually took the checkered flag first but, was disqualified during post race inspections when he refused to allow SMVR officials to tech his vintage iron.

Racing action continues on the dirt track at I-70 Speedway next Friday night.  On “Five Dollar Friday” the Pit Gates open at 5:00, Admission Gates open at 6:00.  Hot Laps begin at 7:30, Racing at 8:15.  As always admission tickets are only $5.00 with children 5 ad under are admitted for free.  Featured class on Friday night’s are: IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA SportMods, Sport Compacts and Farm Trucks.
