Three Generations and a Full Moon at the Dirt Track – I-70 Speedway

Odessa, MO  (July 28, 2007) – Another great Saturday night of racing on the dirt track at I-70 Speedway was seen by hundreds who made the short walk to the dirt track after action concluded on the Asphalt.  With a full moon shining over racing, three generations competed in the featured, Dwarf Car Racing Association, class on the dirt.  Dwarf Cars and Mod Lite drivers filled the field including a family with three generations and on this night a battle of two brothers.

Through a couple of great heat races, DCRA drivers qualified for their starting positions in the 15 lap feature event.  In early feature action, brothers David Raffurty in his #64 and Jeff Raffurty in the #98 contested each other constantly for the lead.  Unfortunately, brotherly love was thrown by the wayside, contact between brothers on a couple of occasions and a run in with Father, Rick Raffurty in his #75 car, sent both brothers to the rear of the field, costing either of the Raffurty boys a chance at the feature win.  At the conclusion of the feature event, blood was thicker than water, as the brothers were brought back together as a family and joked with each other, about the incidents.

Leading the field across the finish line was Greg Nellis in his #4 Mod Lite.  Following Nellis was the #641 Michael Raffurty, son of David Raffurty.  #23z Zeke Langley was third followed by the 24 of Kelly Bergstran, #99 Bradley Taylor, #60 Tony Kerr, the 63 of Kevin Arnett, #64 David Raffurty,  the 35 of Mike Sedgewick, #98 Jeff Raffurty, #2 John Sharp, #13 Bill Zabel, #75 Rick Raffurty, Father of David and Jeff, and the #46 Daryl Kabriel.

DCRA action will return to the Dirt Track at I-70 Speedway on Saturday night August 25th, as part of Carmageddon.

Racing action continues next Friday night for “Five Dollar Friday”.  All general admission tickets are only $5.00.  Pit Gates open at 5:00, General Admission Gates open at 6:00.  Hot Laps begin at 7:30 with racing action at 8:15.  Featured classes on Friday nights are; IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock cars, IMCA SportMods, Sport Compacts and Farm Trucks
