Heavelow Returns to Victory Lane at I-70 Speedway Odessa, MO (July14th, 2007) – The featured class on “Two for One Saturday”, on the Dirt Track at I-70 was the Midwest Outlaw Lightning Sprints. However this time the Lightning Sprints raced with a new twist, without their wings. Fans commented, “The cars looked really good racing with out wings”. Many of the MOLS drivers added, “That was really fun tonight, racing without the wings” and “you guys have given us a great track every time we have been out here but this time the track was perfect”.
Veteran open wheel and MOLS driver Phil Heavelow, in his #44 Lightning Sprint, led the field to the finish line, from his third row inside starting position. Following Heavelow was the #46 of Dusty Murray who started beside Heavelow outside the third row. In third was the 4 of Beau Heavelow, followed by the 19 of Lenny Heffernon, 11 Duane Marusarz, 9s Chris Schofield, X Jim Bevan, 18 John Eaton and the 25 of Donnie Graves.
More non-wing action returns to the “D” shaped speed plant next Saturday night as the I-70 sprint cars will be the featured class, July 21st, on “Two for One Saturday”. Open wheel fans will be treated to the best sprint car action by the regions best sprint car drivers. Can Phil Heavelow pilot his big car to victory and make it two weeks in a row at I-70?
Next action on the dirt track at I-70 will be “Five Dollar Friday”, on Friday night, July 20th. Featured classes will be the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA SportMods, Sport Compacts and the Farm Trucks. Pit gates open at 5:00, Admission gates open at 6:00. Hot Laps begin at 7:30 with racing at 8:15. All general admission tickets are only $5.00 with children under 5 admitted for free.
