Show-Me Action At I-70 Dirt Track

Odessa, MO (June 2, 2007) Dirt and Asphalt fans met as “Two For One Saturday” brought Asphalt racing and Dirt Track action together for a single admission price.  “I can’t think of another racing facility in the nation that offers asphalt and dirt racing on the same night for one ticket price”, states Brad McDonald, I-70 Speedway owner.  Race fans were treated to a great show on the dirt track, featuring the Show-Me Vintage Racing Series.

Twelve vintage drivers brought their vintage iron to do battle on the super fast 3/8 mile clay surface, at the D shaped I-70 Speedway Dirt Track.  When the twentieth lap of the feature event was recorded, it was the #14 Hudson of Ron Lutes reaching the checkered flag first.  Close behind Ron was the 77 of Dale Reese, 1 Brian Strong, 3b Al Browers, 11 Kenny Price, 6 Lane Walker, 11m Mark Price, 7 Mickey Fleehart, 33m Rick Pelky, 28 Mickie Cook, 52 Jack Tanner and the 24 driven by Mike McDowell.

The vintage cars varied in age and makes from a 1928 Pontiac to a 1957 Ford.  Many may think that these guys are simply exhibition racers but that is far from the truth.  These guys really get in there and mix it up; there was hard racing for position during the entire twenty laps of the feature.  For those of you who missed it, the vintage cars will return to I-70 Speedway on Saturday night, July 7th and I am sure there will be some fireworks.

Next Friday night is “Five Dollar Friday” featuring the IMCA Modifieds, Stock Cars and SportMods, along with the Sport Compacts and “Farm Truck Racing”.  On Saturday night the dirt track with host the Midwest Outlaw Lighting Sprints in conjunction with the ASA Late Model North Touring Series, as the featured event on the Asphalt Track.
