Others Had Rain; We Had Races on “Five Dollar Friday”

Odessa, MO (June 1, 2007)  While most are tracks were rained out, I-70 Speedway got a complete show in featuring the IMCA Crate Models, Modifieds, Stock Cars, SportMods, Sport Compacts and “Farm Truck Racing.”.  “We prepared the track so that if we got a slight shower we would be able to save the track and complete the show”  “That is exactly what happened”, commented I-70 promoter, Brad McDonald.  With heat races complete, I-70 officials rushed through a short intermission to get Feature Events in before threatening weather arrived.  As the SportMods hit the track, the short shower hit, the race was halted just long enough to iron the track back in and from there, the night of racing was completed.

 

The IMCA Crate models made their once a month appearance with the 2m of Mike McCoy winning the feature followed by Jason Kein in the 5k and Dale Eaton driving the 63.

 

In the Stock Car division, Russell Walter piloting the #12 was first across the finish line ahead of Tim Eaton in the 63e, the 86 of Gary Foxworthy, x9 Brad Whitney and the  97 of Travis Taylor.  The 50 of Curtis Morrison was unable to make the call for the feature event.

 

John Miller in the 77 was the SportMod feature winner.  Chasing John to the finish line was 69 Matt Marrant, 34 Scott Pullen, and the 99 driven by Brad Smith.  The 29 of Clint Nimmo and the 70 of David Willey did not make the call for their feature.

 

A first time winner, Jason Marrant driving the 33 Sport Compact held off the 62j of Jessica Clemons, 32 Allen Guthrie and the 47 of Price Carter

 

In a “boy it don’t get any better than this”, Modified feature, the 26ss of Steven Glenn return to victory lane.  Right behind Steven was last weeks winner, 20t Mike Tanner, 12c Merrill Crose, 92 Rodney Hartford, 93s Chad Shaw and the 3t of new comer Mark Downey.

 

Saturday night June 2nd the Dirt Track at I-70 Speedway will feature the Show-Me Vintage Cars along with a full show on the Asphalt track.
