(Odessa, Mo) The dirt
track at I-70 Speedway was running smoothly, Saturday night as cars were upside
down under a full moon, next door. The two tracks ran simultaneously this time.
Mickey Cook of Amoret, Mo took the first feature win and dedicated it to the
late Ron Lutes, the SMVR president who had also raced with the group until his
passing last week due to an ongoing battle with cancer. Finishing second was Bob
Shryer and third was Larry Martin.
The DCRA feature was
won by Mod Lite driver, Jeff Raffurty of Hallsville, Mo. His nephew Mike
Raffurty was second and Mike's father, David Raffurty was third. Fourth was Greg
Nellis of Valley Falls, Ks.
In preparation
for the M.A.D. F.E.A.R.S Figure 8 Nationals to be held at I-70 on Sept. 26-27
some Iowa drivers were on hand and dominated the Figure 8 feature. Iowa's Justin
Frost took home the win with Don Wauters second and third was Greg Borden of
Springfield, Mo. A complete schedule of events both dirt and asphalt can be

(Odessa, Mo) The fans
sang Happy Birthday to Gene Claxton of Gladstone, Mo. as he climbed from his
100% IMCA A class Modified, Friday night at I-70 Speedway. He took the feature
win sort of like a cake walk on this special night. The action in the battle for
second was intense as PJ Conger battled and overtook Terry Van Trump near the
end of the 20 lap main event.
The Sport modified feature
was a back to back win for Cody Graham of Chillicothe. Point leader Jeremiah
Asher took second like point leader, PJ Conger did in his feature. Third was
Chris Whalen.
The IMCA Stock Car division
saw point leader, Brad Whitney return to victory lane ahead of Russell Walter
and Bennie Turner. The smaller Sport Compact Stock Cars saw a win by a Science
teacher, Dave Cotterman take place, with Wade Sherman and Jessie Clemons in
third, going to school, behind the teacher.
In Farm Trucks, Tom Corum
scored another win with Paul Swartze and Dennis Hensley in second and third.
Cole Melby, Sedalia,
drove his Non-wing Micro Midget to a feature win ahead of Brian Beebe and Jared
Rodgers. Open wheel racing will return to the dirt at I-70 on labor day
weekend. Check
